On the Western edges of Red West Lothian, just before it meets the Black, up on the ridge that overlooks the Almond valley, sits the little village of Seafield.

This was a village that was initially built as One of West Lothians many ‘Company Villages’ of Miners Rows. These were usually One or Two room cottages, hastily built to facilitate the Influx of workers that came to mine Shale in the pit there.

Today, the village of Seafield is no longer a a mining village but instead has flourished as a commuter village. With the M8 Motorway Junction 4a at Starlaw just a few minutes drive away or Junction 4 going Westwards, it serves as a great little retreat for those who may be working in nearby Glasgow or Edinburgh where they can get into work quickly. the village has almost Doubled in size over the past 20 years or so with the addition of modern housing havin been built to house those commuters who have moved out from the cities for the countryside and clean air whilst maintaining their city Jobs.
