West Lothian is home to over Twenty Lost Villages that were once busy little mining Villages. Yet, today, most of them have vanished with barely a trace. Amongst these Ghost settlements of the Industrial revolution there was actually Two of these Lost villages that share the same name – Woodend.
West Lothian has both the lost Village of Woodend near Armadale, but there was also another lost village of Woodend near the village of Newton. It is this latter Woodend Village that we shall be exploring here in this article.

The lost village of Woodend was situated between the West Lothian village of Winchburgh and Newton.
