Bangour General Hospital – The Hospital on a Farm

The Bangour General Hospital was originally a military hospital, commissioned by the EMS in 1939 to deal with the war wounded of WW2. It was a prisoner of war style institution that was a defensive tactic against air raids. In 1948, it transitioned to a General hospital and became the Birthplace of most West Lothian people born before 1989. It is completely separate from the Village Pschiatric hospital that you can still find today. The general hospital was demolished. There are no ruins. The only sign of it ever being there is the brick wall at the gatre and a few solid parts of ground in the fields which would have been the base for the wooden huts to be built upon
