Originally named “Durhamville” after the Land owner, Thomas Durham Weir, Durhamtown was the Birthplace of Modern Oil mining. Present on 19th Century maps as ‘Durhamtoun’, this lost village of West Lothian was probably it’s most significant. Although you’d hardly know it.
